Utility Work, Water and Wastewater

The City of Rochester Water Department has contracted with M.E. Simpson & Company to do a unidirectional flushing of the city water main lines (process to clean the mains).  The work will begin on or around July 15, 2019 and continue for 30 days with weather permitting.  During these dates you may experience cloudy or discolored water at any time.  The water is safe to use and drink and running it a little longer may help to clear it.  Avoid washing white clothes while water is discolored.  We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

The City of Rochester Wastewater Department will begin routine sanitary sewer line maintenance cleaning mid June and lasting through fall.  Crews will begin in the Manitou Heights area.  Residents may experience gas smells as a result of this cleaning.  The WWTP recommends running water to refill the sewer traps to help prevent gas smells.  In the areas of sanitary sewer line cleaning, WWTP will be using the fire hydrants to refill water tanks on trucks, which may result in discolored/cloudy water.  While performing the sanitary sewer line maintenance, crews will also clean storm sewer lines.
